As many of you know, Namibia is located in the southwest of Africa. Africa is known for its diverse cultures and is celebrated each year. At Namsnails, we pause and reflect on the strength, resilience, innovation, and cultural richness that define our continent. For us, this celebration is deeply personal. We are proudly Namibian, proudly African, and committed to building a future rooted in sustainable agriculture, community empowerment, and innovation.

Africa’s story has always been one of ingenuity. Across generations, our people have cultivated the land, preserved traditions, and adapted to change with determination and creativity. At NamSnails, we honour those traditions while embracing modern farming practices that position African agriculture for long-term growth and sustainability.

Our work in snail farming reflects a broader vision for Africa — one where local businesses create opportunities, contribute to food security, and demonstrate that world-class agricultural solutions can emerge from right here at home.

One way we will celebrate Africa Day is by preparing African-style garlic and chili snails. You will need the following ingredients:

  • Fresh Snails

  • Butter

  • Garlic

  • Fresh chili or chili flakes

  • Parsley or coriander

  • Lemon juice

  • Smoked paprika

  • Salt and black pepper

To prepare your dish:

  1. Boil and clean the snails thoroughly.

  2. Sauté garlic and chili in butter.

  3. Add paprika, lemon juice, and seasoning.

  4. Toss the snails in the sauce until coated.

  5. Garnish with herbs and serve with bread, pap, or roasted sweet potatoes.

As we celebrate Africa Day, we also celebrate the spirit of innovation that continues to move our continent forward. African excellence is not something we aspire to become — it is already present in our communities, our businesses, our cultures, and our people.

Not only do we celebrate Africa, we also celebrate Namibia. And we celebrate the future we are building together!

-Happy Africa Day from all of us at NamSnails.
